On Sunday 13th February the HQ coaching centre took on the stars of channel 4's Hollyoaks in a charity football match to raise funds for HUGS (Helping Uganda schools) and Alder hey children’s hospital
Although this was a friendly you could tell from the kick off both teams wanted the win, with HQ almost scoring from the first attack.
HQ's next attack however was much more promising but was halted by a foul and on the 10 minute mark Dave Swaine placed the free kick into the bottom right corner only for the goal to be disallowed due to it being taken to quickly, this however did not affect Dave's confidence as on the second attempt he calmly placed it in the same place to beat the keeper, 1 - 0 HQ.
After this early goal HQ began to show dominance with numerous runs being made by Eamon Buhalfaia that where troubling the Hollyoaks defence, Inevitably this lead to another foul in a similar position to the last free kick, Dave stepped up again and yet again he dispatched another perfect bottom right corner shot that went in, 2 – 0 HQ
Before the break there was good attacking football coming from either sides including a missed penalty opportunity by Hollyoaks which could have been crucial had it gone in, during the half time interval spectators were treated to a spectacular dance show provided by Extrava Dance who where founded 4 years ago by sisters Stacy and Sasha and have become a huge success the dance included street, disco and freestyle dancing.
As the second half kicked off HQ showed the same intent as before the break and where immediately on the attack 8 minutes into the half the ball fell to the feet of Chris Bishop who calmly passed the ball around the keeper and into the back of the net, unfortunately the goal was ruled offside however HQ gathered the ball from the set piece and where back around the Hollyoaks box and a deflected shot from Matthew Houghton was placed in to the back of the net by Alex Bannon 3 – 0 HQ
But Hollyoaks where determined to score as a cross from the right to the back post where Daniel Birks was unfortunately out jumped by Jamie Lomass to take the score to 3 – 1
Unfazed by this HQ got there attacking play going again with inspiring runs from midfielders Phil Hayward and Neil Hulme which led to Chris Morgan being 1-on-1 with the goal keeper and the opportunity was not wasted as Chris slotted it in 4 – 1 HQ
Again Hollyoaks came back showing fighting spirit and for a while had HQ on the back foot and due to some mistakes at the back where able to capitilise and narrowly nudged the ball past goalkeeper Richy Cowederoy to take it to 4 – 2
In the dying moments of the game it looked as if HQ could grab another goal only to be stopped by a solid well organised defence and the full time whistle.
HQ would like to thank Hollyoaks for participating in the match and for showing good spirits, the match officials and to everyone who came down to watch and contributed.

Cheshire county sports club was the stage for a charity match between HQ Coaching and the popular TV show Hollyoaks. This event was a charity match with all the proceeds from the day going towards ‘HUGS’ a registered charity that works with under privileged school children in Uganda. The event was very well supported and the day as a whole was a huge success.
The team captain for HQ Coaching Matthew Houghton arranged and organised the day’s events, he also contributed alot in the game resulting in him scoring two goals, helping HQ to succeed in the 6-1 success over Holly oaks. Other scorers on the day included a brace from Nathan Mapletoft, Alex Bannon with a bullet like header and Mike Wilde with a nicely taken shot. Although the score line reflects a very one sided game, Hollyoaks did have there chances throughout but were denied by some very good goalkeeper from Josh Collins who stood firm throughout.
The game itself was played with very good spirits with both teams battling for the 90 minutes. The Hollyoaks players were very well supportive of the event, and also offered photographs and the signing of autographs for large numbers of fans supporting the event.
HQ Coaching would like to thank everyone who contributed throughout the day.
