ATHLETICS

The countdown to the LONDON OLYMPICS 2012 has begun, WASP (Wirral Athletics Sports Programme) and HQ Coaching are providing the youth of Wirral with an exciting programme of courses across Wirral. Starting in January is Pensby and West Kirby Athletics. both courses are for children aged 4-11 and FREE to participate.

WEST KIRBY Wednesdays from 18th Jan, 4-5pm at West Kirby residential school, Meols Drive
PENSBY Fridays from 13th Jan, 4-5pm at Pensby Sports Complex

Football courses for children aged 4-7 years old in your area will be starting Sat 21st January (leasowe on 28th) and will cost £4 per week

Leasowe Recreation Centre 10-11am
Oldershaw High School 10-11am

SCHOOLS
 
2012 afterschools programme is booking more clubs than ever before for 2012 we have expanded our customer base of schools. Working with more clusters we aim to run several projects bringing schools together as part of our community inclusion projects. Look out for letters coming home from your school!

PPA Cover and term time projects are now being booked, if you would like your school to run specialist sports, dance, drama plus many other clubs please contact our office.
 
SPORTY TOTS – IS BACK !
 
HQ Coaching would like to introduce our specialist Sporty Tots Project 2012.Sporty Tots is HQ Coaching’s leading programme dedicated to children age 2-5, its aim is to develop key skills through sport. The philosophy of Sporty Tots is to engage children in exciting, interactive physical activities whilst delivering key learning principles through games and sport. The sessions link basic skills and key stage 1 curriculum to prepare children for their next stage in their school career.
 
Sporty Tots is available to Nurseries, reception classes, libraries and community groups. If you would like to book a taster session or to discuss the project please call the office on 0151 632 4150
 
SMOKE FREE HOMES

This month Steparu visited Grove St Primary as part of the continued drive to make a difference in homes across Wirral. HQ continue to work with communities and the families of the young people to reduce the effects of smoking in the home with the 7 steps programme.
Entries for the Slogan Competition for children are now coming in, the quality is high and as soon as all schools entries are collected we will advertise the winner in January.

ENGAGE FOR AFRICA
 
HQ will be working with AFRITWIN & HUGS to support schools in South Africa and Uganda. We will be contacting Wirral schools to raise awareness and deliver projects sustaining the work we do in Africa. HQ will be visiting Africa in April, running up to then we will have a number of events and school projects. To get involved or find out what’s happening in your cluster please contact us.

HQ COACHING TRANMERE ROVERS MATCH MEGA FOOTBALL DAY

Starting in January HQ coaching will be running the new exciting Mega Football days. Children from the Wirral schools we work in will have the opportunity to book a place, each day will consist of:
Professional Football Coaching Sessions
Family enclosure seats at Tranmere Rovers FC
Lunch & Snacks
Transport to and from the event
HQ Coaching Football Workbook
 
The whole day will be completely supervised from start to finish. All participants will be collected from their school by HQ staff on a private coach. They will be taken to Shaftsbury training facility adjacent to Prenton Park for the coaching sessions. Lunch is provided and the group will be taken into Prenton Park for the Tranmere Rovers Match before returning to school.
 
It is expected that places will go fast and we only have a limited number of places available for each day……look out for the letters coming home from school. If you want to book on a course for a particular match or with another school group please contact us direct.
 
OTHER NEWS
 CYCLING HQ coaching will be working with Wirral Cycle Club to launch community cycle rides, school bike clubs and cycling for fitness and recreation. if you would like to know more abouty this upcoming project please send us an email

HQ COACHING APPRENTICESHIP SCHEME has just started its new intake, we welcome the 33 new starters and wish them well in achieving their qualifications!
