Wirral Athletics Sports Programme

Wirral Athletics Sports Programme & HQ Coaching have teamed up to offer children aged 7 – 12 years the opportunity to attend an Athletics club in their community. 

Aims of W.A.S.P

W.A.S.P will give all young people the opportunity to receive high quality Athletics coaching locally regardless of their religion, age, ability, race, gender and social class.

W.A.S.P will offer young people the opportunity to achieve accredited sports qualifications leading to further education and employment.

W.A.S.P will put pathways in place for gifted and talented individuals and take them to the next level in their personal sports development.

W.A.S.P will organise trips to events and competitions.

W.A.S.P will do everything they can to promote a healthy lifestyle.

 

  • To adhere to the laws and rules of UK Athletics
  • To promote and encourage the sport of athletics
  • To offer coaching and competitive opportunities in athletics
  • To promote the club within the local community
  • To ensure a duty of care to all members
  • To observe national requirements for equity and child protection
  • To encourage disabled participation      
  • To provide a safe, friendly and stimulating environment in which to practice a variety of athletic disciplines
  • To encourage teamwork, loyalty and commitment to the club through the democratic representation of all its members
  • To foster good standards of conduct, discipline and to encourage members to behave in a way that enhances the reputation of the Club
  • To assist members where possible to fulfill their personal aspirations by appropriate conditioning and to develop skills in order to optimize performance in line with the member's capabilities
  •  To improve the general standing of the club and to progress to the highest level of competition so far as may be compatible with the abilities of its members.

Events you may get involved with:

Sprints – 50metres, 75metres, 100 metres

Throws – Vortex Howler, Shot, Discus, Javelin

Jumps – Standing Long Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump

Relay Races – 100metres, 400metres

Endurance – 200metres, 400metres

Venue: West Kirby Residential School

When: 1st May onwards

Time: 4pm – 5pm

Price: £3 members, £4 non members

 

Pensby

Venue: Pensby Sports Complex

When: 4th May onwards

Time: 4pm - 5pm
